Priced per 1,000 sends protected. Not per check.
Per-check pricing pays a vendor to check more, which is the opposite of what you want. Per send protected pays us to check less — cache harder, gate more locally, and fan out only where it changes the answer.
The rate
| Sends protected / month | $4.00 / 1,000 (list) | $3.40 / 1,000 (reporting outcomes) |
|---|---|---|
| 25,000 | $100.00 / mo | $85.00 / mo |
| 50,000 | $200.00 / mo | $170.00 / mo |
| 100,000 | $400.00 / mo | $340.00 / mo |
| 250,000 | $1,000.00 / mo | $850.00 / mo |
| 500,000 | $2,000.00 / mo | $1,700.00 / mo |
| 1,000,000 | $4,000.00 / mo | $3,400.00 / mo |
| 2,500,000 | $10,000.00 / mo | $8,500.00 / mo |
| 5,000,000 | $20,000.00 / mo | $17,000.00 / mo |
Above 5,000,000 sends a month the rate is negotiated rather than listed. The calculator on the home page covers the same ladder interactively.
Enrichment profiles, from /v1/enrich or bought by /v1/decide when one of your rules needs one, are not part of this rate and do not count against the verification allowance; their pricing is not yet published.
Screening, from /v1/screen, is metered separately. It has its own monthly allowance of 10,000 screenings by default, does not count against verifications, and verifications do not count against it. Its pricing beyond that allowance is not yet published.
Bulk verification (upload a CSV, get it back with a verdict per row) is not priced separately. Each unique address in the file counts as one verification against the same monthly allowance as /v1/verify, and duplicate rows share their address’s answer. A list that needs more than remains this month is refused before it starts, unless you choose to verify the part that fits. A job that runs out part way pauses, keeps what it has verified, and resumes on the 1st or as soon as the allowance is raised, if its 7 days have not run out; nothing is verified or counted twice.
Your blocklists for domains and addresses, and the Email types switches in your policies, cost nothing to keep or to apply. /v1/check is free.
Why reporting outcomes is cheaper
Wire outcome reporting and the rate drops 15%, from $4.00 to $3.40 per 1,000. That is not a loyalty discount. Your real bounces are what move your account from a seeded prior to a fitted curve, and a fitted curve is a better product for everyone on the same feature buckets. You are supplying the input that makes the model work, so you get paid for it.
Mechanically it is a POST to /v1/outcome when your ESP reports a bounce. Sortance does not call your server.
What is in it
- Every check in the pool — our own Sortance check, then DeBounce, MyEmailVerifier and ZeroBounce — on our contracts. No separate accounts, no separate keys.
- Calibrated probability, confidence interval, disagreement and actor class on every response.
- Router policy you can pin: cost-first, accuracy-first, or a latency budget in milliseconds.
- Outcome webhook, replay of any decision, and per-decision provider receipts.
What “a send protected” means
One address you were going to mail, on which Sortance produced a decision. Not one provider call — a single decision may involve four provider calls or none at all, and that is our cost problem rather than your billing problem.
For reference, raw per-check pricing across the pool runs $0.00045–$0.01 per check. Sortance buys at those rates; you pay for the decision, however many checks it took.
Quota and limits
- Default allowance 10,000 verifications a month, metered on the key’s organisation across every key it holds, bulk jobs included — creating another key does not reset it.
- A separate allowance of 10,000 screenings a month for /v1/screen, metered the same way. Exhausting it is
402 screening_quota_exceededand leaves verification untouched. - 600 verifications a minute per key. Outcome reporting gets ten times that ceiling.
- Bulk verification: files up to 50 MB and 100,000 rows, two jobs running at a time per organisation. Bulk rows are not subject to the per-minute rate; they count against the monthly allowance like any verification.
- Exceeding the quota is
402; exceeding the rate is429. See going to production.
Is there a free tier?
You can sign in and start calling the API without talking to anyone or entering a card. Whether the default monthly allowance is positioned as a free tier or a trial has not been settled — what is true today is that signing in gets you a working key and 10,000 verifications.
